Video Tutorial

Don't waste time downloading all of the following maps, addons and packs individually. Use the SA-GGG SVN. This SVN pack contains all the following downloads, already in their proper directories, and is extremely easy to use.

There are a few things that you have to do for the first time you want to use the SA-GGG SVN.

Instructions

Step 1: Download and install Tortoise SVN. [1] Get the newest version, DISREGARD WHAT THE VIDEO TUTORIAL SAYS. The newest version works fine. Get the 64 bit version if you are on Vista or 7 64bit.

Step 2: Create a folder on your desktop or where ever you have about 4GB of free space.

Step 3: Right Click the folder and click "SVN Checkout" Then enter this URL: http://ggg.deathgibs.com/svn/.

You should not be asked for a login or password, we are using the anonymous account again. IF you are asked try: anonsvn for both username and pass

This will download all the addons we use and put them in their right folders. It will take a bit of time, since there is a lot.

It will transfer about 960MB of data, but this is compressed. It will take about 4GB of disk space.

Step 4: The update will ask you for a user name and password when you get to the wiremod stuff, Adv Dup, and RD2. The username and password are both anonsvn for all of them. Tell it to save the authentication and it shouldn't ask you again after the SVN update completes for the first time

Step 5: Copy everything in the temp folder that you created in step 2 Be sure you have show hidden files enabled and copy the hidden .svn folders as well

Step 6: Browse to your garrysmod folder. It should be at X:\Steam\steamapps\YOUR STEAM HERE NAME\garrysmod\garrysmod

Step 7: Paste everything in to your garrysmod folder. Tell it to overwrite all.

Batch File (Optional)

Step 8: (optional) Create a text file on your desktop named gmod.bat and right-click it and select edit. Put the following text inside it

cd "\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin\"
TortoiseProc.exe /command:update /path:"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\lowensodium\garrysmod\garrysmod" /notempfile /closeonend:1
cd "\Program Files\Steam"
call "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 4000
exit

Besure to change the batch file to match your installation. This example above will not work unless you are Lowen SoDium and all of your stuff installed on C:

Thats it. You are good to go. Every time you run that bat file, SVN will update all the files needed and then it will launch Gmod.

Another way to update

1. Navigate to X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOURNAMEHERE\garrysmod.

2. Right Click on the Garrysmod folder (This is the X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOURNAMEHERE\garrysmod\garrysmod folder, notice how the garrysmod folder you right click on is inside another garrysmod folder!). Since you already copied the SVN over in the previous instructions (step 7 from above), this folder will have a little green check on it.

3. Select update.

4. Wait until its done.

5. Thats it!

Troubleshooting

If you cannot connect to the SVN, or receive an error, first check the current SA Thread to see if others are experiencing the same issue.

  • Questions will not be answered if you have not followed the basic instructions on this page.

More Information

If the GGG SVN says that you have a file already and it can't download anything, it might be because you already have a folder that you downloaded yourself. Please post it in the thread, but usually you can delete your local copy, and download the svn's version by running the update again.

Special thanks to Maniak for use of his server space and bandwidth for this SVN, Axim for putting together the SVN, and Lowen SoDium for figuring out how to get the SVN to be as simple as possible and for writing these instructions.

Update the SVN once a day, that way you will always be up to date.
